Deep sea hunting game for PC

Deep Fishing is a free-to-play action game for PC developed by Edler Fish Studio. It is a top-down shooter wherein players take on the role of deep-sea divers on an expedition to hunt aquatic creatures and look for hidden chests for treasure and gold.

Similar to Subnautica or Bioshock Remastered, Deep Fishing features an aquatic theme to it. Comparatively, it's more of a casual shooter that primarily focuses on the action than storytelling. It boasts a wide variety of species and monsters that players will encounter and catch using an equally diverse set of weapons.

Monster hunting at sea

In Deep Fishing, you will dive into the sea to hunt and capture fish for gold, as well as look for any treasure chests that might have been hidden by pirates. It's a rather straightforward premise, but it works to its advantage being a casual shooter and all. There are over 100 species of fish and monsters, each with their own corresponding value—it's all about the gold here.

For combat, you will be utilizing turrets to hunt and capture your targets. There are currently 10 turret types that feature different attributes and effects. The creatures you'll find are grouped into seven rarity classifications. The rarer they are, the tougher they'll be to defeat, but the more rewards you can get from them. You can upgrade and add multiplier effects to your weapons to increase your score as well.

The game also features various in-game events that provide rewards and bonuses. If you catch a boss or special fish, you can get the chance to acquire the plasma gun, the best weapon in the game, offering the highest gold. Having said all of that, gameplay can still feel repetitive and can get dull rather quickly. It really is just something you can play to pass the time, nothing more.

A decent pastime

If you're just looking for a casual game that you can play in short bursts to help pass the time, Deep Fishing is an option to consider. The gameplay is simple but fun, and you get a good amount of weapon customizations to hunt hundreds of sea creatures. The experience is rather one-dimensional, but it's also free, so there's that.

PROS

  • Ten turret types to use
  • Over 100 species and creatures
  • In-game events for rewards and bonuses

CONS

  • Gets dull and repetitive after a while
